Group plans

Items marked Coming soon are being rolled out and will be available soon. See What's new for 2027.

The Plans section holds the group's plans: medical, dental, vision, life and others.

Adding a plan

Press Add to open Find Plans and search the plan library. Choose a plan and press + Add Plan; it's saved as a draft that you finish from the plans list. Setting up a plan takes these steps:

  1. Plan Setup
  2. Location & Class Info
  3. Policy Numbers
  4. Combined Rate Specs
  5. Rates
  6. Benefit Info
  7. Questions
  8. Contributions
  9. Plan Year
  10. Wait Period
  11. Documents
  12. Passive Enrollment

A draft plan, including one you uploaded, ends with a Review step. The plan goes live when the review is complete.

You can also rename how a plan is shown to employees with Update Display Name, or remove a plan.

Uploading plans and rates Coming soon

Brokers can upload a CSV of plans and rates instead of typing them in.

  1. Upload one CSV file. Rates can be four-tier composite or age-banded.
  2. Abra checks every row. Fix any problems it lists and upload again.
  3. The plans are saved as drafts, marked "Not visible to employees until it goes live."
  4. Finish each plan's remaining steps, such as contributions, then complete the review. The plan goes live only then.

An upload always adds new plans. It never changes the rates of a plan employees are already enrolling in, so nobody's price changes under them.

Plans that aren't renewing Coming soon

If a group plan won't renew, untick Offer at open enrollment on it in the group's Plans list. The plan then shows a Not renewing tag. Brokers, and admins with Add/Edit on Plans, can change it.

While open enrollment is open:

  • The plan isn't offered, and employees can't renew into it or switch into it with a life event.
  • Employees already on it keep their current coverage until its plan year ends. They can still make life-event changes to it, such as adding a spouse.

Outside open enrollment, it's still offered to new hires and for life events, because it's still the group's current plan. Tick the box again to offer it.

Price and tier checks Coming soon

When an employee saves a group plan with composite rates, Abra checks the price and coverage tier on its own side:

  • If the price shown no longer matches the plan's current rates, the save is stopped with "Prices changed — please review your selection again", and the page reloads current prices. Nothing is saved.
  • The tier must match the family members chosen (for example, a family tier needs a spouse and a child). A tier that doesn't match, or that the plan doesn't offer, is refused with a message.
